It's about great public schools.

Resources

Charter Renewal

In addition to hosting regular discussions with the authorizers, the Charter Center has collected these resources and exemplars to assist schools facing the complex project of writing the renewal application and preparing for the renewal evaluation visit.

SUNY CSI Renewal Resources, including Handbook, Benchmarks, Application and Recent Renewal Reports at SUNY CSI Renewal.

Facilities: For Charters Co-Located in DOE Buildings

The NYC DOE sets clear campus guidelines for schools co-located in DOE buildings whether they are district or charter schools. The DOE Division of Space Management Co-Location Handbook spells out the philosophy and protocols for shared campuses. It includes sections on the Building Response Team, Safety Planning, custodial services, and the building council.

For campuses with charter schools, the work of the building council is supplemented by a shared space committee.

Operations Resource Guide

The DOE Charter Office put together an Operations Resource Guide to aide in the important end of year and start of the year tasks. It includes deadline reminders for DOE systems and guidelines on the following topics: Summer School, Enrollment in ATS, Transportation, Per Pupil Funding, Health/Immunization Requirements

ATS Training Video

Welcome to the world of ATS! This training video is a great one-stop resource for the most useful ATS functions and reports. It covers the basics.

Note: If you still need an ATS account, or to request one for a new staff member at your school, complete this form and email it to Tliu2@schools.nyc.gov. As a reminder, ATS users will need a NYC DOE email account that can be obtained through the DOE’s Galaxy system through an administrator at your school.

Staff Handbook

Clear expectations promote strong performances. A comprehensive staff handbook is the best way to ensure all employees understand the professional standards and culture of the school.

Several extensive handbooks are attached, each with particular strengths. SBuffalo’s CS Handbook has thorough sections on social media and computer use and mentions confidentiality of student records. Hebrew CS Center includes well-developed sections on media relations, social media and conflicts of interest, while Excelsior CS is thorough on employment rules and expectations.
