This is an introductory webinar (offered monthly) for those interested in finding out basic information about charter schools. Through an interactive webinar format, participants will gain a basic understanding of how charter schools differ from traditional public schools and what initial steps are involved when planning one’s own charter school. Potential charter applicants can learn about New York State’s authorizers, as well as their deadlines, websites and contact information. Participants will gain an initial understanding of the overall charter process, helpful resources, and the particular timelines associated with each authorizer. At the end of the webinar, participants will be in a better position to judge whether they want to move forward with planning a charter school and the next steps they will need to take.
