Start Right

Start Right

Overview

Now that your school has been authorized, it’s time to focus on all the details required to open your doors successfully.

The Start Right program is designed to help you make key hiring decisions, ensure board effectiveness, and address major operational and financial issues moving forward.

  • Hire the Right People: Define ideal candidates, determine competitive salaries, and establish desired qualifications and skills. From hiring an instructional leader to defining administrative roles, we’ll help you position yourself to find the best people to help execute your vision.
  • Create an Effective Board: As the backbone of the school, your board plays a huge role in determining your level of success. Through a process of self-evaluation and in-depth analysis, we’ll help you define roles, recognize strengths, and figure out how it all fits together.
  • Build a Successful Back Office: Before a school can open, certain key systems and procedures need to be in place. For every topic, we’ll conduct a seminar that guides you through creating the systems, policies, plans, and materials needed to get you up and running.

Did you know that New York City charter schools are subject to the requirements of New York State's Open Meetings Law (OML)? The OML is based on a presumption of access that provides the public with the right to know in advance about meetings of public bodies and then to observe the meetings and deliberations. It applies explicitly to charter schools under the Charter Schools Act of 1998.
