2015 NYSED Application Timeline

The State Education Department has updated the timeline for the submission of applications to establish charter schools in New York State authorized by the Board of Regents with a plan to open in 2016. In the 2015 Request for Proposals (RFP), the Department will provide two opportunities for applicants to submit new charter school applications. The timeline (below) provides information regarding Round 1 of the competitive RFP process. The requirements and timelines for Round 2 will be posted in late spring.

Think Pair Share

Think-pair-share is a widely-used strategy that can be successfully implemented in classrooms across all grade levels. This learning strategy promotes structured student interaction and is a great way for teachers to support the features of the Interaction component of the SIOP Model. It can also be an effective way to differentiate instruction by providing students time and structure for thinking about a given topic, enabling them to formulate individual ideas and share these ideas with a peer, and ultimately the entire class/group (Simon, 2014).

School Closure Contact List - Local TV Stations

As your own Local Education Agency (LEA), you are responsible for school closures independent of the Department of Education's (DOE) decision. When choosing to close your school due to weather or an emergency, be sure to alert local TV stations so that all parents and families are made aware. The following list includes contact information for local TV stations and was originally compiled and shared by New Vision for Public Schools.
