Effective September 1, 2016, the New York State Department of Health (DOH) announced that schools are subject to new immunization requirements. Charter schools are required to comply with these requirements and should refer to the DOH’s new 2017-18 guide on required immunizations (https://www.health.ny.gov/publications/2370.pdf).
The Charter Center’s Vendor List is one of the many ways in which we help schools share resources with one another. Last year alone, there were 11,000 hits on over 300 businesses recommended by NY charter schools. We’d like to remind you that all vendors on the list have not only worked with a charter school, but have also received a written recommendation from one or more charters.

The latest report from the New York City Charter Schools Evaluation Project compares the academic performance of charter school students with that of their peers who attempted to enroll in charter schools but were not selected in a random lottery. This method allows the researchers to isolate the effect of attending a charter school, without being concerned that factors related to the decision to apply to a charter school are really driving achievement differences.
