Common Core Information for Parents

The 2012-13 school year brings something different to public schools across New York–a new set of academic standards called the Common Core. You may find that your child is reading more non-fiction in English class or puzzling over more multi-part questions in math class. These changes are geared toward preparing your students for the revised state tests coming up this spring. Each school will be making its own decisions about how to best ready your child. Ask your child's teacher what the Common Core means to your school.
