New York State law requires that certain types of school employees undergo a criminal background check and file their fingerprints with the State Education Department and FBI. The New York City Charter School Center can electronically scan and submit fingerprints so that new hires can obtain clearance within 48 hours.
HOW TO GET FINGERPRINTED
- Self-register, create a TEACH account with the New York State Education Department and pay their $91.50 fee.
- Pay $30 (starting July 1) to the NYC Charter School Center through PayPal using a credit card. You do not need a Paypal account to make the payment.
- Email your preferred appointment time (plus two alternatives) to firstname.lastname@example.org, using the subject line “Fingerprinting Appointment”. The Charter Center does fingerprinting every Wednesday (except holidays) from 9:10am to 4:00pm.
- Bring a photo ID and proof of your $30 Charter Center payment to your appointment.
