How are charter schools funded?

Print

Each school receives a per pupil allocation funding from the district which is calculated using New York State's charter school funding formula.

Charter schools receive no funding for facilities and have to raise it on their own and/or through the support of outside funders.  Many charter schools are driven to share facilities and resources with other public schools.  Overall, charter schools receive less money per student than traditional public schools.
