All teams working to obtain a charter have to interview with their authorizer early in the process. The New York City Charter School Center holds mock interview sessions with each incubating team, which mirrors the actual authorizer interview. The Charter Center’s CEO, James Merriman, interviews teams and offers critical feedback as his schedule permits.
The incubating teams have found the mock interviews to be extremely helpful in preparing them for their official interview with either the New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE), State Education Department (SED), or Charter School Institute at SUNY.
