This year marked the 10th anniversary of Charter School Advocacy Day. This milestone coincided with a particularly significant time in our state’s political landscape – not only is there a new Mayor and new elected officials in almost every office in New York City, but it’s also an election year for state officials.
More than 1,400 parents and school staff from across the state traveled to Albany to meet with legislators. The day gave the charter sector a chance to showcase its growing numbers, as well as provided schools and parents with an opportunity to build meaningful relationships with the people who are responsible for the laws that govern charter schools. This year, these relationships are more important than ever.
