This year marks the 10th anniversary of Charter School Advocacy Day. This milestone coincides with a particularly significant time in our state’s political landscape – not only will there be a new Mayor and new elected officials in almost every office in New York City, but it’s also an election year for state officials. It’s more important than ever that our legislators hear from us!
Each year, more than 1,200 parents and school staff from across the state travel to Albany to meet with legislators. The day gives the charter sector a chance to showcase its growing numbers, as well as provides schools and parents with an opportunity to build meaningful relationships with the people who are responsible for the laws that govern charter schools. This year, the importance of these relationships cannot be understated.
